I'm a soppy, hopeless, incurable romantic! So, I guess you know what kind of book I'm going to suggest!
My favourite novel of all time, is called 'Sirena' by Donna Jo Napoli. It's about a mermaid in a quest to seek love in order to gain immortality, the lessons she learns and the decisions and the consequences of the decisions that she experiences. It's a novel that combines Greek mythology as well as enough reality to make it an amazingly real love story, and an unforgettable read. If you read it, I'm sure you'll love it too! Hope this helped. ;)

I have a few, some of my favorites are by the author Terry Pratchet, they all are about the funny things that happen on this ficticious Discworld, where Trolls, Werewolves, Vampires and Witches are real and simply just other citizens. They're all really funny.
Some titles to look for:
Guards, Guards
Lords and Ladies
Witches Abroad
Going Postal
The Fifth Elephant
Interesting Times
Truth
and MANY others...none of them have to be read in any order to be enjoyed.
Another favorite author is Tim Dorsey: his books all revolve around this Cuban/American Psycho-killer named Serg...talk about hysterical!! You end up really rooting for this psycho!! It's all too twisted but funny as hell!!!
Some titles to look for:
Florida Roadkill
Hammerhead Ranch Motel
Orange Crush
Triggerfish Twist
Stingray Shuffle
Cadalic Beach
Torpedo Juice
and
The Big Bamboo

Joseph Heller's Catch 22, published in 1955. Set after the Second World War on a fictitious island off the coast of Italy, it acts as an amazing pre-sage for all that followed in the 20th century up to now. A work of extraordinary genius.
And, just as an aside, there are not many books that added a phrase to the English langauge as a result of their publication.

I am a great fan of the crime & mystery novels and I especially like the novels,"The Hound Of the Baskervilles" and "A Study in Scarlet" both written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I've finished the whole series of Sherlock Holmes, u could try some out too. U could also try out some of Agatha Christie's novels as well.

I don't have one favorite novel, but perhaps you might be interested in one of Jane Austen's novels. Of those, my favorite is Persuasion. It's about an English woman from 200 years ago whose family pressures her to reject the man she loves because of his low social standing and poor prospects. He becomes a successful Captain in the Navy and makes a fortune, then comes back and meets her and her family again. The question is then whether he will forgive her for rejecting him and love her again, or marry another woman.
It can be found in many bookstores, and can even be read online, as it is in the public domain (out of copyright).
