this might be a mail spammer program. scan your computer with antispyware.

if you are using XP, disable remote desktop, this might help if someone is using remote desktop to hack into your pc.

If it's connected to the Internet- It is not "Stand Alone". The Internet is a network, and there are other very crafty people on the Internet. It is possible.

Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, Anti-Spy, Anti-Popup software plus a good Firewall are your lines of protection. It you want a slightly more drastic measure - disconnect (physically disconnect) the Internet connection or turn off the computer when not in use; if your firewall is good, however, this won't be necessary.

If your computer is connected to the internet then yes it is possible.
You will need to check for spyware (try adware SE) rather than just the normal anti-virus (is your antivirus updated?)
The unknown address can be created by software which simalutes a real mailbox and can even read all your mail contacts (spoof mail - can also use your real address to send emails that you havent created)

Yes. They've hijacked your computer. Make sure your antivirus is up to date and then do a full virus scan, not just on-access. If necessary uninstall your email program and reinstall it. You've got to get rid of this. You shouldn't be using a computer connected to the Internet if you can't. If the problem persists then call in an expert.

Yes it is possible. this type of behaviour occurs when your system gets infected by a worm. Install a good internet security program like Norton Internet Security 2006.or go for a combination of zonealarm and AVG
