The answer is simply NO. There is no software that can do what you are asking for in India with dial up connection. That is because your modem uses the line and even if you use Call Waiting, the call wait signals will not be understood by the software.
It is possible in USA cause noone there uses "dial=up" as we do. Their "dial-up" is the same as the boradband which SIFY or BSNL provides. Since while using broadband, you can answer calls, it is possible for them.
Moreover, it is a fact that you use just one modem. So just think. Your modem is used for internet. How can other softwares use the same modem for detecting calls simultaneoulsy? Now don't go and install another modem. It too wont work.
The best solution is to get a broadband connection. BSNL and SIFY give connections as cheap as Rs. 250 per month.

You can only use any such softwares if you have Call Waiting enabled. Call the tel. company and make sure that you have call waiting.

you have to contact your ISP or BSNL or VSNL to get yourself a call alert system just like what AOL offers to its clients in the US.
