Coccain has a physical addiction.
If it's bad enugh you go through a withdraw it's probly best to go through re-hab.

I have been adicted to many different drugs, for many years. It is not pathetic, it is a disease for some people. Their chemical makeup does not allow them to make decisions well after they begin to take any adictive substance such as alcohol, crack, opium, meth, tobacco, and many others.
I quit over 26 years ago because I, too, felt I needed something better than this. I found I could not do it alone. I needed the help of others who had been through the same struggles. With thier help, I was able to begin to get off of the crutches I was on.
Yes, life seemed strange sober, at first. But as the fog cleared, I felt better, was more productive, and found new interests that gave me a greater high than the short term high of the addict.
If you truely want to quit you will persue any avenue you can find, and use it, like it or not (at first). When the pain of remaining where you are becomes greater than the pain of change, you will choose change. This is just a human fact.
If you continue to mentally choose to be in this situation, you are not ready to change, yet. Perhaps the pain isn't great enough yet.

I'm 32 yrs old been sober now for close to 4 yrs and i truely understand what you are saying.I did crank, ice, crystal call it what you will from the age of 13 to 28 I know what you are saying about treatment I had the same attitude and I said the same thing till someone asked me if I was on paper or am I doing this on my own.I was there on my own cause I needed the help I couldn't do it on my own.Today I don't go to meetings and stand and say my name and that I'm an addict I tell myself that if I get high today there most likely won't be a tomorrow.I don't know if this helped you or not lets just say that you did help me today decide what I'm not going to do tomorrow.

That is the most ridiculous reason I have ever heard of for not wanting to go to a drug treatment center. Get out of jail free my patootey. Treatment is what you make of it, you obviously need a residential treatment program to learn sober activities and how to live sober. If you are worried that people will find out you are in treatment dont worry the 42 CFR Part 2 Regulations protectect your privacy.

I work in a jail I can tell you stories but if you have been on it for ten years there is no need. I am glad to hear you want to change. The most successful people I have seen will replace it with something else. Religion, hobby. Something that does not involve taking chemicals. Go to a local Church most will be Happy to help you out.

My father is in NA and it has helped him tremendously. I suggest that. The NA groups should have social activties that are usually quite fun. They'll help you find out what you need. And of course the world seems strange sober, addiction is a state of insanity.

i never have had a drug addiction, but i think like with any other addiction you have to really want to quit. No one can help you unless you help yourself. You will get used to the new point of veiw and if you really want to quit do the treatment center, you won't be there forever and sometimes we have to do things we hate to get where we want to be. I mean i hate my job, the diet i'm on and exercise but unless i want to be overweight and jobless i'll stick with it. Good luck!

you have made the first move, admitting you have an addiction. The next step is to get help.unfortunately the help is going to have to come from a treatment center due to the withdraws. It will make you feel very sick for a little while but if you really want to quit, you have to be strong and do it.

I don't do any drugs. Do you have friends/other family members that does crack? If so, try to stay away from them because they will try to encourage you to do it with them. Try to take up a hobby that can help you take your mind off of it. It's good to see that you want to do something about your addiction, even though it has been 10yrs.
