Lincoln put it best when he said, "Government of the people, by the people and for the people shall not perish from this earth." Also the magnificent words of Thomas Jefferson. "All men are created equal. They are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights. That amongst these are Life., Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. " Hard to improve on the words of these two statesmen when speaking of America's values.

Freedom to think, believe, vote, live and do business.
Independent justice
Democracy
Actions done by the state have to be based on laws, not on arbitrariness
