Learn a second language! (or three or four)

People who speak two languages have more grey matter in the language region of the brain. The earlier they learned the language, the larger the grey area.

“The grey matter in this region increases in bilinguals relative to monolinguals -- this is particularly true in early bilinguals who learned a second language early in life."

One cannot increase the number of grey cells in the brain. The brain is the only non-regenerative organ in the body. Once it is damaged, it stays damaged. Yes, as a child growing up, it does grow, but you would have to research a med site to find out exactly how much. After a certain young age, though, no more gray cells are created.
However, by thinking about something again and again, like studying, one increases the strength of the synapses and neural pathways the electrical signals use to make or create or have that particular thought. For instance, usually the most developed pathway in the brain for anyone is the one that registers the input (from either their eyes or ears) of their name.

You cannot increase the number of grey cells in your brain. However, you can increase the number of connections between the grey cells that you already have. You can do this by using your brain a lot and doing challenging things. Try to give yourself a mental workout every day :)

The number of grey cells in the brain cannot be increased. You are born with a certain amount of grey cells that dissapear each day.....of course they're billions!the only thing you can do to get smarter and loose lesser brain cells is to learn something...because while learning ,your brain cells make more and more connections to one another.....after a while these connections become stable and they're calle neuronal pathways!
