I would try Grits, the ants will take the grits back to there their place and all will eat it and then they will go get water and then they'll explode and die..... and best thing your cats will be safe and you don't have to worry about it unless there allergic to Grits, Best of luck to you............

Unfortunately all you can do is spray right at the base of your windows and doors.
This summer got really hot really fast, it got the ants to start mulitplying faster than their food sources were available and so they're coming inside to find food.

I know it's horrible, my town house basement floor is covered in them. We had to have the association hire an exterminator to get rid of them as best they could. All they could do was spray around the windows, doors and along the foundation walls, just along the edges were the walls met the floor.
It's all that can be done.

Firstly, you should try to seal the house that there are no new entries...

As far as I know, the most natural thing would be to feed some yeast - the ants will not survive, but the cats would.

Since they are really big, use Baygon or whatever you do to eliminate cockroaches. And get rid of them forever. Too dangerous.

I use Safer Roach and Ant Killer. It contains boric acid. This was recommeded to me by our local CoOperative Extention service. It contains boric acid. If you follow thd manufactuer's directions it should be safe. I have cats, too.

We use these little strips that look like band aids, they are called sugar strips. They are baited with poison, the ants take the poison back to their nest and it kills them all
