I hope you're not planning to try it. A close friend of mine killed himself over something he thought nobody would accept him for; but all his friends I know would have cared about him just as much. As a police officer I can tell you I have had the unpleasant experience of answering probably close to 100 or more attempted suicide calls, and of those, about 25 were successfull. Unfortuneatly, besides the fact its sad to think someone feels so trapped theyhave to choose that route, about half of those who succeeded did not die immediately and I witnessed several suffer in pain. The first one that came to mind when I read your question was a guy who put a gun to .357mag to his temple and shot a good size chunk of his brains on the walls and ceiling. I was sitting in the park literally right accross the street from his house so I beat the fire dept there. The guy was still semi-conscious, and crying out in pain. I knew he'd die, but the paramedics told me later he suffered all the way to Parkland Hospital and about another 20 mins in trauma. By the way, ER docs recieving severe trauma patients, usually don't treat you for the pain anytime soon, They're to busy trying to save your life. I've witnessed alot of serious trauma while in ER w/a prisoner. I hope I never have to suffer like some I've seen. If you're asking because you are considering it, please IM first or talk to someone unbiased and not connected to your problem. I've been in that position a couple of times, but so far I've decided to stick around for awhile. Seriously, Dallasblue08@aol.com or AIM..Steve

blanks are cartridges without the projectile in them and they are crimped in the ends to allow them to simulate the noise of the shot and the flash of the shot but no bullet comes out. Its used mostly in training and is a safe and cost effective way to train and give some sense of realism. They are also used in sporting events. A pistol firing blanks to signal the start of the event.
