There is certainly something to be said for the informal internet setting where people can shorthand things and make it easier on themselves. However, I also think a lot of people really don't know proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

It's hard to punctuate and use capitols when you are simply asking a question. Typing on the other hand is a different story.

Same reason they refer to a literary classic as "Le Miz." (cringe!!)
Same reason they refer to your nine-digit identification number as your "sosh."
Same reason we are drowning in acronyms!!!
Same reason they insist on calling Victoria "Vickie" or Rebecca "Becky" or Johnathan "John."

i presume you mean when it is written down. well todays people are bone lazy and can't be bothered to do it correctly and when they need to write an important letter one day,they will have to get help
