depending on the red tone (brick tones or wine wouldn't.. a blood or cherry red would be good). and if you find the right way to match them, i can't see why not.

but it's true, if you fail, you may look like a valentine's day ad.

i think it could be, depends on the sade exactly. it may appear as if one is a faded color of the other and look kinda odd.
just use this trick. get a full size mirror. put on the cloths. look in the mirror. if it looks good go for it.
