Generally most produce is worth even less as a farmer to sell it. But supermarkets make more profit on these goods.The market place has seen more flucuations in general (depends on your location).

In terms of equipment... technology has made some great in-roads on tractors and the like... far easier job to work the land.

Farming has changed in several ways: less farming land; stricter guidelines (federal / state); increased cost of equipment. However, some positive changes in farming has also been better and faster equipment. This often allows for less time needed to tend to crops; therefore, less people are needed to care for / work the crops.
