Because Democrats believe in giving more power to the common people, and Republicans believe in giving more power to the Government and it's individual Authorities, regardless of it's policies that are not proliferating to the people that it serves.

I always thought it would be better to have at least a strong third party, then I looked around and thought about how nothing is getting done with just two parties and don't even want to consider what would happen if an Independent president would have to deal with a congress of Rep. and Demo. It would take four years just to pass a resolution.
The set up in other countries seems fair. They go and vote and if candidates don't get a majority they have to have a run off. ( Yes I know that is condensed but you get the picture). I think the US would have a seizure if the small minority of voters that you can barely get out to vote one day a year every four years would have to go back again.
Wish there was a way to make it work. And believe me if I hear a candidate that can do it he/she has my vote.

Because it is an American tradition now to trip on other's beliefs and hold them down and kick them...It is the way we have been looked at for years now and that is what the world expects of us...Personally, I don't give a $hit about being a re-tard or a dem-wit...Why can't we all just realize that one day if this war ain't over and we still let DAs in office like the one in there now...We are going to split again and have a more major civil war?...Those repub and democrat words are just labels...That's what Me Thinks...How bout you?...

The Republicans and Democrats have most people believing that if they don't vote for one or the other that they will just be throwing away their votes and since the majority believe this propaganda the other parties don't get enough votes to win. They have the majority believing that they must vote for the lessor of the two evils.

really... I'm not so much anti-Republican, as much as I am anti-Bush administration... I've never seen so many failed policies in my life...
I'm not a member of the democratic party, but the Republicans lump me in with them now, since I don't care for Bush... so I guess me and the Democrats aren't so much friends as much as we have a common enemy...
Max: could you use less facts next time with your opinion...oh wait, you didn't use any that time, so no, it's impossible, you can't..
you say that a huge majority are corrupt and the majority now are conservative... and the "liberals" are the problem? I'm confused...

Because there isn't the voter base for an effective third party. There isn't enough people who fit outside the huge realm of coverage that the other two systems provide. I don't think it could ever change.

we're divided because thats what the liberals want. plus, the entire government has lost it's people... they are so out of touch. the liberals divide us, but they all are ruining us.... 99.9% of the politicians have a big red "FOR SALE" sign stamped on their egotistical, arrogant, self serving foreheads.
I'm a thomas jefferson democrat. he was old school. small government. people control themselves. income taxes were illegal...
