Second generation
Series 4 (1986–1988) was available with a naturally aspirated, fuel-injected 13B-VDEI producing 146 hp (108 kW). An optional turbocharged model, known as the Turbo II, had 182 hp (141 kW).
Series 5 (1989–1992) featured updated styling and better engine management, as well as lighter rotors and a higher compression ratio, 9.7:1 for the naturally aspirated model, and 9.0:1 for the turbo model. The Turbo II moniker was dropped, and the turbocharged model was simply dubbed Turbo. The naturally aspirated Series 5 FC made 160 hp (119 kW), while the Series 5 Turbo made 200 hp (147 kW).

Your car is a S4(Series 4) made between 86 and 88.

1986-88 are Series 4 cars, while 1989-91 cars are Series 5 (there was never a '92 RX7).
The "bottom of the barrel" base model is the only FC3S with 4 lug wheels. To bad for you, but they are the lightest.
Go to RX7club.com if your looking for more info on your car. Good luck!

I have an 1984 RX7....the starter motor was having problems, I spent a weekend working on it, that was August 28, 2005, I was waiting for Monday to get a new starter motor..... it ended up flooded to the dashboard in Hurricane Katrina, which hit that morning. It was a lovely car, now just sits and looks good if you don't lift the hood. I'm just trying to say, pay attention to the starter motor and get it fixed or replaced at the FIRST sign of hesitation.

Look at the stickers under the hood and on the door jam of the driver side door. If this does not have the information you are looking for run the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on carfax.com that alone should generate the complete model of the car.
