Teasing at school or the more severe form (bullying) is sadly too common.

I was teased at school as is my middle son. I can identify with your son's distress and your worry.

Is he teased about other things too? Or is this an isolated incident?

Children are great levelers. Any point of difference that makes people stand out will be made known an selected for attention.

If its only the colour of the underwear, let him choose another, even if he only wears them on PE days. Tell him white is a perfectly nornal colour for a boy.

I like white a lot :)

Some kids are prime for being teased no matter what they do.
Two things I would suggest is to update his underwear to be more like other kids. Still he might get teased.
My oldest son got teased endlessly. He was very soft hearted and sensitive. It was like he had a sign on him...."Pick on me"

I finally convinced him that he had to fake it until he made it. He had to understand that the more he reacted the more he was teased. Daily we would discuss how he could react. Eventually he held his chin up and didn't show any reaction to the teasing, or find something good to say back to the teasers with would make the one doing the teasing look like a fool. I always told him to be kind, but stand up strong. It worked. Eventually he got tall real quick, After being teased himself he looked out for the other kids who got teased. Once a kid was shamlessly picking on a smaller nerdy kid. My son went behind the teaser, started to pull him up by the ears, got in his face and said, don't ever speak to him like that again, do you hear me? His confidence was strong.
He went from being the kid to pick on, to the kid who protected those who got picked on.
I was very proud of him, and still am.

Just give him some money to go into the store to get his own underwear, if he doesn't want to go to the cashier's desk with them, tell him "It's either the cashier now or the guys at school five days a week" or whatever.
I'm not a mom, but i would do that. Of course, I would never buy my kid white underwear or briefs in general.

I don't have a son but I do have my own personal experience. I was never teased by what underwear I wore but I wore boxers instead of briefs. I'd suggest buying your son some boxers to try out and see if he likes them better. If not, you could always try some boxer briefs. As for color, I'd go with any solid darkish color.

I don't have a son. I'm not old enough, but my brother went through the same problem. I feel bad for him, because in athletics he did get teased. It's not his fault my mom doesn't know what to buy when she's out shopping, I took it upon myself to buy him colored and patterned boxers instead of plain white briefs. It didn't matter what color unless it wasn't pink(he hates pink) and didn't have babyish patterns like elmo or tellytubbies. Stuff like footballs and baseballs, plain, patterned, multicolored, and even spongebob if he's into it.

White Briefs Wedgie

HAHA You will end up finding him hanging by his underwear from the flagpole. jkjk but he will end up getting wedgies and hattle be more embarressing. I hope he doesnt go away to sleepaway camp because he would never survive there wearing briefs. He would ed up changing in front of a bunch of guys and will get endless wedgies and will come home with no underwear since they will all be ripped hanging from the hook they put him on to give him a wedgie.

THe moral of the story. Buy him boxerbriefs in dark colors!!!!

I honestly wouldn't worry about this kind of thing. The only time you really need to worry is when they are beating him up for wearing white underwear! Kids these days are ridiculous! Who cares about the color of his underwear!

As long as he keeps them nice and clean, he shouldn't care! That's such a petty thing for those kids to do. If they have time to notice his underwear, then they really need lives! Just ask him if it bothers him, and then find out if he wants to switch to colors. he shouldn't have to feel bad, because there is nothing wrong with wearing white!

id say bring him to the store to pick out some boxers he approves of , im guessing blues or grays , they have lots of patterns these days ..
or you could just write in magic marker on the white breifs : if you are reading this message on my *** you must be a homo gay .. lol and that would give him a chuckle next time he has to change for p.e
