Be honest and let the employer decide if they want to go ahead with hiring you. As a Manager, nothing annoys me more than when I hire an employee and explain that I am looking for someone who is going to work long term, say a year at least, just to have that employee come back after two months to tell me that they are quitting. You waste my time, the company's time, and you burn bridges.

That really depends on the type of person you're dealing with.
My guess is you already know, they would not hire you, or that they will let you go. Don't be worried, simply say " I'm going back to school". Most employers understand, and respect this. If they don't there are plenty of other jobs.
But, don't burn your bridges by not letting them know. Let them know now, perhaps, two weeks before you go to school, they can get someone to replace you.....That would show responsibility on your part and maybe you'll always have a summer job there. Good-Luck! ; )

You can write on the application that you are just looking for summer work. Or tell them in the interview. Or, don't tell them. You can put in the three months and then quit. Or just apply for a summer-type job like at a water park.

Consider you may want to work there again, if not you will want to maximize the reference potential. Be open to offering more if you can (may be available for holiday season, some weekends during college, the next summer, for example). Being up front about being temporary is probably best. Don't forget to mention your career goal after education if it might apply to their company in some respect.

Don't tell the employer...or not he would not hire you in the first place. You can come out with a reason later... going back to school ... is a good reason...!

A lot of employers are only looking for summer help.. Just be up front with them and tell them you are going off to college, and they will be happy to know it..

Don't tell them beforehand, wait to be hired, when the time comes for school to start, let them know you won't be able to continue working there.
