- Gone with the Wind
- Casablanca
- An Affair to Remember

Somewhere In Time TOPS!!!
The Horse Whisperer
Far & Away
Legends Of The FALL
River Runs Through It
I Dreamed Of Africa
Three Coins In a Fountain . (sorry...mid-50s too)
Come Back To Sorrento............ (oops sorry, that's the late 50s)
GIANT (oops that's before the 60s too)
My Fair Lady (early 60s)
Breakfast At Tiffany's (oops...late 50s too)
Butterflies Are Free
South Pacific
Those that are in the 50s were so good I had to list them. I know I've forgotten some of the best ones...but this is a great start. I think the best one in the list is GIANT or Somewhere In Time. (Giant is long-running, & convoluted ----and IMMENSE...ie, "Giant" (James Dean's last movie I think) ....whereas "Somewhere in Time" is sweet but not terribly long (Christopher Reeves favourite work).
2 out of 7 isn't too bad is it?
Find any movie with Robert Redford, Audrey Hepburn, Kim Bassinger, or Barbra Strisand in them, and you're pretty safe to say it's one you'll be looking for.

I'm not that in to romantic comedies, but the movie "Father Goose" changed that. Its got Cary Grant in it, and is totally hilarious. BAsically this navy guy is sent to monitor an island in the pacific for Japanese. He's a total drunk of course! Anyway, a lady from a girls school on a field trip just happens to crash onto the island with some of the girls. This woman could not be more different from Cary's character. Hilarity ensues, but they fall in love!
Another great romance is the ORIGINAL yours mine and ours. Not the new one. The original casts Lucille Ball as the mom. As you know, she was Lucy for many years. Anyway, it is a great movie
If you're in for a bit of a horror flick try the movie "Bad Seed". Now it is totally creepy. BAsically this woman is orphaned. She never meets her father, who is actually alive. Her father is a totaly sociopath, and a killing maniac. Suddenly her daughter gets violent, begins to kill. Just like her grandfather. The movie is really creepy.
Now, by far, my all time favorite old movie is "life is beautiful". Its so sad a love story, but its really good. The main character is a Jew, and he and his family are taken to a concentration camp. He hides his son in the camp to save him. Throughout the movie, he tries to make everything seem like a giant game for his kid to keep his son from losing hope. YOu should really watch it, because it is such a wonderful movie.

Witness for the Prosecution, made in 1957.
It's not about love but it's one of my favorite movies. Don't read too much about it or it won't be as enjoyable.

wood_elf_86 - Life is Beautiful isn't old, it was made in 1997. It was a good movie though.
