Usually drug dealers are also drug addicts. But dealers have caused the most harm in the sense that they have ruined lives even young teens, and made a profit from it. They will never know the extent of the damage they have done. The addict on the other hand is hurting himself and his addiction affects his loved ones who care about him. But I believe that drug dealers are the worst and they should receive the harshest penalty and prove that easy money and sometimes a smooth intellect, will not yield a positive result. They should be put in rehab and be locked up for at least 5-10 years in my opinion. This would deter others, MAYBE, from dealing drugs.

That is a dark circle of desperation, need, addiction, greeed, and other dark longings.
As a recovered addict and reformed bad girl I can say there is hope and taking that away by locking people up forever isnt the answer.
I think there should be facilities that exhist just to help the dealer learn a new way of life. For me I needed to provide for my family in a place that had high high unemployment... For bread for the mouths of babes what is the greater sin...to feed the addiction of someone who will find a way to get high with or without you, or to starve your own child? I of course learned better ways and have asked god to forgive me many times for those dark deeds....if only I were wiser then. oh well hindsight is 20/20.
For the addict. It takes years of recovery. Not 30-90 days. It also takes the desire to want to change. That has alot of dinamics I could not express at this time. But there has to be better ways than the rehab centers they have now adays.

No one has come up with a good solution yet. Busting one big dealer reduces supply and makes the rest of the dealers' drugs more expensive. This has been going on for decades and I have yet to see any way to solve the problem. Perhaps someone who understands human nature better than the politicians should be consulted - I have not heard of that ever happening. If you legalize it and tax it too much, there will just be more tax fraud.

I believe the most sensible course of action would be to enforce the laws already on the books. In this day and age when the dope addicts make more money than the cops It isn't hard to bribe your way out of trouble!

If you believe both are very wrong why are you asking?
What kind of drugs are you talking about? Same could be said about anything. For marijuana decriminalize and tax. Treat drug abuse as an illness not a crime.
