What is the difference between a sun sign, moon sign and an ascendant?

All I know is that I am a Sagittarius. How do you figure out all the other stuff?

Difference between Sun ,moon sign and Ascendant:

Sun Sign : A sun sign is western type of astrology. If you're born within a range of dates then you're a certain zodiac.

Moon Sign : It falls into indian vedic astrology. At the date and time of your birth, whatever zodiac moon is in that becomes your moon sign. And according to that zodiac parents name you. indian language Alphabets are divided into these 12 zodiacs and the sign in which moon is present is your moon sign and whatever alphabets falls into your zodiac your parents select from those options. mostly there are 3 alphabets in every zodiac.

Ascendant : Indian vedic astrology deals in Horoscope made out of 12 houses as there are 12 zodiacs. Draw a rectangle, in the middle starting from all four corners make a cross. This will divide the rectalgle into 4 parts. then from the upper middle to left side middle draw a line and from thre to bottom middle and from there right middle and from there to top middle. This will draw a diamond shape in the middle and will divide the rectangle into 12 parts. The very first house of the Horoscope is your Ascendant. Ascendant tells about your looks, your personality, nature, self esteem, your body etc.

Now here's the example of how to make a horoscope and to find out the Ascendant od a person :

1) Take someones full birthdate, birth time and place. for eg.
29 aug 1980, rajkot, gujarat, india, 10:20 a.m.
Now find out in which zodiac Sun was there on 29th of
august (usually sun transits on every 15th of every month.)
Here, sun was in Leo on 29th aug. leo id 5th zodiac. Now,
find out the Sun rise time on that day. on 29th aug it was
6:45.


2) See, i'll tell you one thing, sun takes 24 hours to complete one
day and there r 12 zodiacs so, 24 divided by 12 is 2. So,
horoscope changes every two hours. keeping this in mind.
Start adding 2 hours in the time of Sun rise untill that
person's. So, here, 6:45 + 2 hours makes 8:45. Now, 10:20
doesnt come into 6:45 - 8:45. so, added again 2 hours to
8:45. that makes 10:45. 10:20 falls into this one. you've
added 2 hours 2 times, so, 5(sun's in leo and leo is 5th
(zodiac) + 2 is 7. here is your ascendant. "LIBRA" (7th
zodiac).

Sun tells only character,body and only minimum features.But moon tells the our imagation purpose like job marriage, more features u and family
Ascendant is a formal is starting 1 of astrology where kept in Zodical signs for example
a ascendent is kept in libra
libra is 1 house
so libra tells the urs personaithy,work,color of the skin etc..

Moon sign is the sign your moon was in at your birth based on birthday and time of day. the moon sign has to do with how you handle your emotions.

Ascendant is based on birthday and time of day, (hour and minute, am/pm). this is the 1st sign on your horoscope charts and is the cusp sign on the first house. this alters you personality and appearance. It is the sign the the outside world sees you as.

To find all of this out you can go to www.astro.com and go to free charts, then you can do a natal click chart. you can click on different things on your chart to get the meanings. you need your birth date, birth time, (hour and minute am/pm, if you don't know look on your birth certificate), and the birth place.
