Usually. Every girl is different though. I have been on the pill for 5 years and I haven't gained any weight.

Birth control pills make your body think that it is pregnant and so in the natural cycle the body then stores up extra weight/energy to take care of the unborn child in case of illness or an emergency problem with the mom. Its natures way to guarantee the baby will stay alive and well even if the mom gets seriously injured or ill! But fear not! You only gain a few 2-4 pounds totally when you first start, and so I'd rather gain the 5 lbs. than get pregnant don't you? Birth control pills have been so easy for me for years, but you still have periods. I just had my first "Depo" shot, it lasts three months and NO MORE PERIODS! Your doctor can give you the shot, or go to Planned Parenthood. I wish I had done this years ago but just met a man that has been "Cut" and can't have kids, but I still want the protection and NOW HAVE THE BENIFIT OF NO MORE PERIODS at my age.

I worked for an OB/GYN and she was constantly trying to dispell the myth that birth control causes weight gain and she finally has proof. In January, 2006 Family Health International reviewed 44 separate studies and found that "Contrary to popular belief, birth control pills do not cause women to gain weight." This comes from medical journals.
Granted I gained weight when I was on the pill....but I attribute that to my eating habits not the pill. Good luck!

Some women gain weight on the Pill. Some women lose weight. Weight loss while on the Pill makes it more likely that you will be infertile when you stop taking them.

Please read the "important information" booklet that comes with *every* drug you take. It can save your life!! Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.

Depends on the formula of the pill. When I found the formula that worked best with my body (Yasmin) I lost 50 pounds! As soon as I have insurance again, I am getting back on them to help me lose some of the weight I gained in my last pregnancy.

Not as much as pregnancy does.
Pills affect your hormones and that can affect your weight. If your experiencing weight gain you should talk to your doctor, there are a lot of options out there and you can find a prescription that works for you.

well i took the diane-35 pills. i stayed the same. i didn't gain or lose weight. it probably depends which ones you take. i recently read about the risks of taking diane-35 so if your planning to go on the pill, don't go on the diane-35.
