I went swimming on 2 occasions in 2 different pools and this same, gross, very strong, fishy odor was there. I had the Nuvaring in both times. I took the Nuvaring out, douched, and the smell went away. I was just wondering if this has happened with anyone else??? It made me feel so gross, so now, I don't swim, I'm afraid it will happen again and someone will smell it, its that strong.

Since the nuvaring is an actual object it has a tendency to block the normal workings. Continue what you're doing as long as it's not to often. Also take the ring out every once in a while and clean stuff up it'll help things so they don't get to bad the next time you go swimming.

when you went swimming, was it in fresh water pool or in a chemically treated pool? If it was in a fresh water pool, I would talk to my doctor. If it was in a chemically treated pool then its probably the reaction of the ingredients in the ring to the chemicals in the pool. Is there any reason you cant just take out the ring prior to swimming; and if you cant take it out it might be an idea to use a tampon to keep the water from reaching the ring... just an idea! Best of luck figuring it out.

I was on the nuva ring and i swim for exercise and never had that problem. I would call my doctor! i gained to much weight with it and wanted a baby (he is a month and a half) my sister had wierd side effects. sore boobs weight gain, heart raced, and stuff.. birth control is really bad for us and especially if you smoke. and if i were you i would stay in monogomous relationship and use condoms if you want kids later, if not get your man fixed. then wall la problem solved. sex is no fun when your dead with a blood clot. that screws with your balance up there. and if that big of a problem is going on i'd get off it..

You might be baking bread.....get a check up for a yeast infection. Maybe the ring is reacting with the chlorine.
