Birth control pills are fine, but in our experience they can lend to severe mood swings.

Because we believe we should not conceive any more children (but may adopt), I had a vasectomy (or male sterilization). I was uncomfortable for about a week and then back to normal. The urologist told us that it takes about 20 ejaculations to clear live sperm out of the man's system, so we still used protection until then. To make sure, go to a urologist to have yourself tested before not using any form of birth control.

The birth control method of depoprevera (not sure about the spelling) works well. It does have some side effects. Check with a doctor first. BTW: Using the bathroom after intercourse only relives the need to pee.

There are several different methods of birth control. There are female condoms, birth control pills and patches, however, there is a brand of patches that have been proven to cause severe problems, she can have a hysterectomy, if that is an option that she is comfortable with and that the two of you have discussed. There are possibly more options for the two of you to consider and to obtain more information, simply contact your local health department and they should be able to give you information.

You could get a vasectomy. She could get a tubal ligation (tubes tied). Not into the permanent fix? She could use a diaphram or the pill or the sponge. There are also vaginal suppositories that are available OTC.
