Just talk to him and be yourself. He probably feels weird / nervous too. Humor is usually a good ice and tension breaker. Talk to him casually with other people around at first. Good luck!

Relax. Be yourself. Try to remain calm around him.

Lovers are usually weak at the knee. Hence the weirdness.
