my mother had me when she was.. 26 i believe and my sister when she was close to 40. My baby sister is 13 years younger than i am.. I know several people with diffrences that big. It doesnt seem common, but it really is. I think its a good idea to spread your children out. Talking with my mother about my sister, she often tells me how much easier it was having a child later in life. Though many women think 40 is just to late to have a child, everyone in that age group i have spoken to with children says they wish they had had all their children after 30 and it was much much easier. Most of these women also had a child in their 20's.

My two are 9yrs apart. I think its great! My older one helps so much with the baby, there is no sibling rivalry (maybe a touch of jealousy) but they love each other to death. The baby can't wait to see her sister after school each day and squeals with excitement (she doesn't do that for anyone else). My older one thanks me often for finding time to spend with her after being so busy with the baby, shes more understanding than I was with my sister (3yr gap). As long as you're all healthy and happy, who cares?!
