Hi, any green thumbs out there? I would like to trim my ficus tree, but am nervous about doing the wrong thing. I've heard about cutting below (or is it above) the knots?

Depends of how "over grown" your ficus is...generaly you can trim any shrub or tree, as much as half way back...don't worry too much about the knodes, or knots...sure your ficus may pout for a couple of weeks but soon you'll get new growth...

I have a ficus tree too. Just trim some of the leaves off we usually just cut off the yellow/dead ones. Just trim the leaves and style it the way u want.

Cut above the knots on an angle, so that water will run off and not rot the stumps. They are tough trees, so you can easily take 1/2 off every branch.

Just trim a little at a time.
