The sound is fine and picture is fine when it doesn't flick to "unusable signal". By the way this is only when watching a DVD. The tv is fine otherwise.

I am at a loss as to what the problem is. All I can decipher is that there is something wrong with my TV. I can watch TV thru the DVD player fine but as soon as I try to watch a movie I get the unusable signal. Its really annoying me..Also if I hook up the TV directly to the DVD player(no stereo) I still get and unusable signal. I am exsasperated!!!!

If you run your DVD player through your stereo and you get that message, you need to make sure your stereo's output is set to "DVD." It's possible that you're getting that message because your TV is on the wrong line feed. And if you have a VCR hooked up also, you need to make sure that it is set to "line 1" or "audio/visual" depending on which one yours uses.

When I get this message on my TV screen, it usually means I haven't turned on the stereo to the DVD output or that the VCR is not on "line 1."

Check your grounding source of your DVD player and the cables your hooking them up with. Make sure all connections are all the way plugged in. Most of the time, a hum is from a shaky connection or a grounding problem.

It might be that your tv does not match the codes of the other electronics. Check with a technical helper at the web. I dont know any web pages for this kind of problems, but you should do a search. Good luck!!
