why do conflicts have to be solved be war?
if the world thought that Iraq was building nukes, why not inforce trade Sanctions against them, they need our food they cant eat oil,if they raise the cost of oil per barrell, then we raise the cost of wheat and meat exports to match, then if any country breaks the Sanctions then has Sanctions imposed on them. the UN must find another way to deal with these type of problem if man is ever going to learn from history.war has never worked.

Where were you in the '90's? That was all tried.
Sometimes war is the only way to stop an irrational use of force, defeat being necessary to remove the desire to continue a course of action.
If there were a better way why can't we find it?

Bush has said that " He views himself as a War President ", and there are certain kinds of people especially in politics that will seek to go to War because they only know " War " as a means of getting what they want or receiving what it is they want rather than using diplomacy, which in their minds view as being " Soft " in a way I suppose.
I think that War should only be approved or allowed when another nation or Country places a grave danger in affecting our overall well-being or causing harm to our infrastructure & way of life.
Iraq was not a " threat " of any sort and had nothing to do with 9/11. Now we see a Country that we have virtually made worse, not better and were spending 10 billion a month on this war digging ourselves further into debt, and for what??? Because Bush blames that his intelligence didnt get it right. That's a nice scapegoat excuse but he contradicts himself every time he opens his mouth.
I think leading our Country into a War that was " false " from the beginning and pre-meditated should be the biggest crime of all. Diplomacy should be sought first before other options are even on the table!!
War is hurtful and leaves scars on those who lost family or friends because of it, which in-turn sparks an amount of hatered that is almost considered " revengefull " & " ill-willed " and inturn will be sought after...so it is a never ending cycle

did you mean Iran? you presuppose that we have the ability to actually keep food out of these countries and that the leaders of middle east countries have the capacity/will to reach peaceful settlements with the United States and its "allies." right now, oil is a far more valuable commodity than wheat. the UN are a bunch of dumbasses that can't act to save their lives.

Because we live in an imperfect world. Sometimes it is the only option. Peace, in theory, is wonderful but only if EVERYONE plays by the same rules.
