No it's not bad - since the important part of any relationship is friendship you've already obviously got this down. Does your "best friend" sense that you may have "other" feelings for him? Do you think he may have "other" felelings for you as well? Keep in mind that once you decide to take this relationship to this new level, it's quite possible (pretty much probable) that you may not be able to return to being best friends once or if this relationship goes awry. So you really got to think am I really willing to give him this special friendship to explore a romantic relationship. Think hard use your heart AND your brain and decide from their. Good luck... kee kat

While it is perfectly fine to fall in love with anyone you choose, there are some things to keep in mind to ensure that your relationship is healthy and long-lasting (hopefully eternal).
1) Knowing the person's qualities and not-so-good traits. That gives you a more realistic point of view of the person, not expecting perfection from the person.
2) Knowing the person's background. This will help you understand why you and the person might not ALWAYS agree in everything.
3) See if the person's goals and general outlook on life is compatible to yours. Many times this includes being of the same faith, to avoid missunderstanding and basically live in consonance with one another.
There's no such thing as ruining a good friendship, if it is based on the right motives. If you truly love your best friend and your best friend reciprocates your feelings, there is no reason why you can't both enjoy a long, healthy relationship. I do, however, echo the thoughts of many on this forum that advise you to take it slow. Never rush things. Nothing comes out right if we rush into it. Remember that everything we do has a consecuence or result. Plant communication, respect, and deep love, and sow a healthy relationship.
Rush into things without carefully calculating your decisions, and end up heart broken.

No, it really isn't. Just start out slow, and don't make any sudden gestures. Trust me.
I wish you Best Of Luck!

No, sometimes things like that happen. However, like DragonX said, slowly break down the news about how you feel.
