In a Parliamentary government the Executive (President or Prime Minister) more directly depends on the legislature for power. There is usually more direct control over government by the people in this form, but it is also more inherently unstable and offers less checks and balances.

The Mother of all Parliaments is the British House of Commons..."parliament" means 'talking.' No doubt the concept was introduced during the Norman Conquest in 1066...do you know that nearly the whole democratic world, except the USA, uses the parliamentary system...not the congressional?
