Metallica

They're both good. But I think Metallica is a little better. Not by much, though.
And Megadeath was founded by one of the Metallica guys, they can't be THAT different.

You DO know Dave Mustaine (Megadeth) used to play guitar for Metallica, right? When he got kicked out and formed Megadeth, the fans split too. It was SOO uncool to be a fan of both bands. Now, that whole thing has kinda cooled down, as they've both got a new generation of fans who don't remember the whole story.

But what it comes down to is who do YOU like best?

Me, Metallica. Although I never jumped on the bandwagon with the rest of the take-sides people, "A Tout le Monde" is one of my favorite songs, too, and I like a lot of Megadeth's music. Just not as much as Metallica.

Megadeth is much better. Dave Mustaine doesn't write songs full of obviousness. Ask someone who doesn't like heavy music to name a metal band and they will say Metallica. Doesn't that tell you something?

I think it is really up to each individual's taste.I,being a metal guitar player, think that Megadeth's Dave mustane is better than Kirk Hammet of Metallica. Both a really kick a**,but I like the style of dave.of course dave used to be in metallica in the early days, but since he started megadeth, his chops have been more classically influenced in a way.dave uses more sweeps, tonal monstrosities, and arpeggios.that is the style I like.kirk hammet relies more on a blues or just balls out approach I guess.they both incorporate classical into their style, but dave I think uses it better and more effectively. If you really want to hear classically influenced metal, try yngwie malmsteen, marty friedman(before megadeth he had a band called cacophony with jason becker---ROCKS!!!,testament's guitarist uses classical sweeps that will knock your socks off. how 'bout joe satriani or dweezil zappa,or one of my faves steve vai,or dream theater.-they rock as well.If your not into that sort of thing, then explore some blues, but for me,I hate blues and would rather explore heavy metal/thrash with the classical edge and techniques.of course,I like to play some slayer too to "keep it real!"there's not much classical there you can bet!!!if you play, good luck and I wish you many, many hours of yourself locked in your bedroom studying!!!!!!!
