She misses a lot of work and has come to work intoxicated, I thought she was a friend of mine, but I guess I was wrong. Is is the money that changed her?

She's jealous of your success. Continue to do your job well and take care of yourself. She is not your responsibility. She is angry at herself because whether she wants to admit it or not, she did not get the job due to her behavior. Sad that she is taking it out on you. Continue to be kind to her, and maintain compassion and understanding for the suffering that she is going through, but don't let it bring you down. Congratulations on the promotion!

She might blame you for what happened. Don't let that happen - you can't be shamed into anything for doing your job right. If you don't want to burn the bridges, occasionally ask for advice or professional opinion to make her feel still needed. Don't do it too often, or you'll risk being labeled as newbie. Also, if the questions asking for advice on opinion don't work, just forget about it - she screwed up her career, you don't need to screw up yours.

Handle it by being professional at work, and not letting her actions interfere with your job... After all, you're getting paid to do your job, not be friends with anyone. Talk to her after work, and see what the problem is. Good luck.

Who cares what changed her. Are you happy with your job? Apparently your boss thought she was not doing a good enough job and you must have been doing a great one. Forget about her and do your job to the best of your ability.
