I am tired of dealing with acne! I have tried Pro-activ(can't believe the infomercial sucked me in not once, twice BUT three times I've learned now lol), the Wal-Mart comparable to that(should have known it wouldn't work...still convinced by Britney Jessica Vanessa and Diddy that Pro-activ works), Neutogena(not sure on the spelling but it makes my face feel funny), and Clean and Clear. I am currently using Clearasil Ultra Face Wash and face cream and it has been working up until recently. I have limited income and cannot spend a fortune on remedies that don't work.
I'm looking for answers from people who have/had this issue and found something that is working for them well. Also ideas on the best makeup to help conceal my unsightly issue would be great too!

GO TO THE DERMATOLOGIST AND GET TAZORAK. AFTER YOU HAVE USED IT FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, ONLY USE IT AS SPOT TREATMENT.
IT WILL MAKE YOUR SKIN PEEL, BUT THIS IS GOOD AND TEMPORARY. --(THIS MIGHT BE EXPENSIVE W/O INSURANCE, IF SO, JUST TRY THE BELOW OPTIONS FIRST AND IN THE MEANTIME, TRY TO GET YOUR HANDS ON SOME TYPE OF RETINOID.)
USE VASELINE WHEN YOU GET DRY.
USE ONLY THE PROACTIVE 'TYPE' BENZOIL PEROXIDE 2.5 AND NO STRONGER. AND DON'T LEAVE IT ON TOO LONG, WASH IT OFF IN THE MORNING AND REAPPLY IF NEEDED.
USE CLEARASIL DAILY CLEANSING PADS EVERY SINGLE DAY, ESPECIALLY BEFORE YOU GO TO BED. BUT NOT WHILE YOU ARE BEGINNING THE TAZORAK (THIS WILL BE TOO HARSH) --ONLY WHEN YOU TAPER IT DOWN TO SPOT TREATMENTS A FEW MONTHS LATER.
DRINK LOTS OF WATER
CHANGE YOUR PILLOW CASES EVERY NIGHT.
USE A VERY MILD CLEANSER LIKE OLAY SENSITIVE SKIN FOAMING CLEANSER OR ANOTHER EXTREMELY MILD CLEANSER.AND WASH YOUR FACE NO MORE THAN 3X DAILY MAX.
TAKE VITIMINS EVERY SINGLE DAY, BUT ONE WITHOUT IODINE.
TAKE A B COMPLEX, A FEW VIT C, A FEW VIT E, AND AN OMEGA 3 FATTY ACID COMPLEX EVERY DAY (FISH OILS AND OTHER OILS).
ONLY SQUEEZE WHEN ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY AND MAKE SURE TO DISINFECT YOUR HANDS AND YOUR SKIN BEFORE AND AFTER IF YOU PLAN TO DO MINOR SELF SURGERY.
IF YOU ARE ON BIRTH CONTROL AND YOUR ACNE IS OUT OF CONTROL, TRY GETTING OFF THEM. IF YOU ARE NOT ON BIRTH CONTROL TRY ORTHO TRI CYCLIN--IT IS THE ONLY ONE THAT MIGHT CLEAR YOU UP.
IF YOU WANT TO COVER IT UP, TRY CONCEALERS THAT COME IN A POT OR COMPACT THAT HAVE DIFFERENT SHADES TO MIX AND MATCH, OR GO TO A COSMETIC COUNTER AND ASK FOR HELP BUYING A SHADE THAT MATCHES YOU EXACTLY, SOMETIMES THEIR EYES ARE BETTER THAN YOURS.--A GOOD CONCEALER IS WORTH THE 10-20 BUCKS.
AND REMEMBER, DON'T EVER SLEEP WITH YOUR MAKE-UP ON. AS A MATTER OF FACT, WASH IT OFF AS SOON AS YOU DON'T NEED TO BE SEEN WITH IT ON ANYMORE. THE MORE TIME YOUR SKIN HAS TO BREATH AND NOT BE IRRITATED BY COSMETICS THE BETTER.

I used to have moderate (sometimes severe) acne. I tried many drugstore cleansers from Neutrogena, Clean & Clear, Clearasil, etc. None of them ever worked! Not even medicated ones that contained triclosan or benzoyl peroxide, which kill bacteria. And using rubbing alcohol as a toner just irritated my skin. Isapropyl (rubbing) alcohol is very bad for your skin. Yes, it sops up the oil -- but it also damages and dries out your skin. Dried out skin causes your oil glands to produce even more oil.

So I decided to take the more natural route. I switch between two cleansers that I like -- Burt's Bees Garden Tomato Soap ($7) and Grassroots See Your Way Clear Extremely Thorough Cleansing Gel($12). I also use the Grassroots Get Glowing Deep Sea Mud Scrub ($15) and Grassroots Get Grounded Skin Purifying Clay Mask ($14) several times a week. You can find the Grassroots products at Kohl's stores and Kohl's online store at www.kohls.com. Kohl's often has sells. Their mask is by far the best mask I've ever used, and when I am using the Tomato Soap my skin almost glows. You can find the Burt's Bees Garden Tomato Soap at Longs Drugs, natural food stores, or online at places like www.drugstore.com.

I also use Common Sense Pure Shea Butter on my face at night. You have to let it melt in your hand before you apply it, though. I found this product and Burt's Bees soap really help fade my acne scars. That's because shea butter contains a lot of Vitamins C, E, and A. Vitamins C and E together help fade scars. You can find shea butter in natural food stores or online at www.drugstore.com.

I also try to drink more water and liquids, and I change my pillow case every few days. I also don't wear foundation or concealor anymore. This regimen has given me the clearest skin I've had since I was 12 (I am now 19). I know the Grassroots products seem expensive, but they do last a long time.

Erm, sorry this answer wound up being so long! I'll shut up now!

I am 46 and up until a month ago I had acne, not really, really bad but enough that I was uncomfortable with it, and I was watching QVC or HSN one day and orderd the stuff they were touting it is called La Jungle, I bought it because of the moisturizer and firming cream, the tiny lines and the not so tiny lines were getting the best of me, well to make a long story short, the stuff is GREAT!!!!! With in 1 mth the lines are deminished drastically but the added plus is that so is the acne!! I could not believe it! I have a friend who does not hand out the compliments very easily, but she just went on and on about how good my complexion was, and how much younger I looked! For her to say something like that was a real shocker for me! The price is on the higher end, but less than proactive and any thing you'll get from a dermatologist. And believe me I have tried everything too. I have a whole cabnet full of junk that just made things worse and burned like crazy. It takes alot for me to be impressed the way this stuff has impressed me.

DO NOT Put Alcohol on your face! Doing so will cause more harm than anything else you've tried. You may just want to start drinking more water. I hate water but I started drinking it (at least 5 glasses a day) and my face has cleared up alot. You may just go to the Dermatalogist for some products, but I like Swiss Ives face products just make sure its the right kind for your skin

While it took little less than two months for me to really see a difference, my acne, blackheads and whole lot of other skin problems I had such as eczema had completely cleared! It was totally amazing...

I would try plain old simple soap and water followed by alchol preps or cotton balls in alchol. Its cheep, and effective. I found that by washing frequently and using alchol it helped to clean the oil out of the pores. The thing is that when you are very young you produce a lot of oils in your skin and you must repeat this process sometimes. for most people as you get older your zits tend to clear up with time.

swab it once a day with alchohol. and wash once with an antibacterail soap. besides this wash ur face many timesa day with clean cool water. u could try a sandalwood paste face pack once a week. try not to get stressed, it increases acne. also u need to sweat... so go for some physical exercise!

i apply SpectroJel every in the morning and at night and then use Ocny Pads just before falling asleep. i dont touch my face and in the moring iv made HUGE IMPROVEMENT!! FLAWLESS!! and i for coverup i use Estee Lauder. its very efective and covers almost all zits. but i make sure to apply spectro jell or maybelline pore free cleanser before i use my cover up because if your skin cant breath from the makeup, it will usly cause more acne. my estee lauder concieler is a PERFECT accesory fo my make up bag to carry around with me all day and is VERY effective.

I use Retin-A. You have to get it prescribed from a doctor, and then you can pick it up from a chemist. It's the only thing that has ever worked for me.. I tried Pro-Activ, but that made everything worse.
