This is what I'm pretty sure what happens: your digestive acids break up the pigments of color and turn it into a brown...waste. Yeah. Especially for plants. The chlorophyl just sorta...you know...disolves. As for why it turns into a brownish color, my only guess is that the digestive acides leave a sort of singe on it...oooor..................it could be that all the colors of the food blend together to form a brownish color (have you ever tried mixing all the colors of the rainbow together using food dye in water? Not pretty) But what do I know? Just ask a gastrologist...or whatever they're called....I guess I forgot...

I once drank jungle juice that was a purple color. Aother time I had a piece of cake that was boy scout blue and gold. The dye was eliminated through the bowels as beautiful Purple and green colorations. Other times when I have had a urinary tract infection, the eliminated urine has a nice blue or orange color.

So to aswer your question. They are either eliminated through the intestinal tract or the urinary tract..

well in art, to make brown you mix all the colors together. if you look at your poop its usually brown, thats cuz all the colors of the food get mixed together. some colors are due to certain compounds in the food which the body absorbs. otherstuff gets digested into tiny molecules so the color goes away. the rest, as i said goes out the other end...

Most things we eat or drink are either burned, excreted, or turned into parts of our body.

Most of the colorants in food are oxidizeable (burnable) and our body burns them for fuel along with everything else. If you put an apple in a fire, it will turn black. If you eat an apple, it will also be oxydized and blackened and the unuseable oxydized ash and any "unburnable" parts will be excreted.

Those answers are correct, just imagine what meat tenderizer does to your intestents while it's being digested. MSG is on it's way out because of the ulcer epidemic in past decades. It is still in use, however, in some states.

Your body tries to digest it. some colorings are digestible and are absorbed into the body while others are passed through.
