I suspect my former high school has or still is selling my personal information to credit card companies. I have never even contacted the companies(it's not just credit card companies) so they have no reason to send me all the crap through the mail.

yes very much so...
but your information is out there.. it probably isn't coming from your school... but there are plenty of other places where they can get your stuff.. esp once you graduate and apply for college and student loans and all that stuff. if you've ever put your ssn and addy on anything other than official records one company got it..and it's all over now. welcome to being an adult. it's not fun. it's a viscious cycle and will never end.. good news is:

you can opt out of credit card offers via website..lemme find that link for ya.

I doubt its your high school "selling" your personal information. Your name and address are in the phone book (typically), on your drivers license, your auto registration, your credit report, the waranty you got with the electronics you bought, the firms you applied for college financial aid from, your church,....this list goes on and on, not to mention the IRS and other Government agencies (who DO use of loose this information).
Some schools are required to supply your information to the government to obtain tax dollars.
Why do these companies send you stuff? YOur demographics matched their target audience.

each marketing campaign has this information, nationwide, state and local campaigns. that's accessible to all on the VAN, Voter action community. the in reality information it supplies is your call, address, telephone huge type, celebration association, and what elections you've voted in. All this ideas is gained from you county auditors workplace once you're registered vote. Campaigns actually have ideas on their donors which the federal authorities calls for them to record. in case you're not any more a donor or a registered voter then none of your ideas is on the VAN. also no social protection numbers are accessible in. No marketing campaign sells this ideas with the aid of the undeniable fact that's public record already. in case you fill out a questioner or a survey, or provide your infomration to any marketing campaign or revenues human being, that celebration does "personal" that ideas for his or her use. it really is not merely the Obama marketing campaign it really is all campaigns. in case you fill out a card from a mag or flyers you get in the mail. similar element, that corporation "owns" that ideas and in assessment to campaigns, they could promote it.

Your information from your highschool should be kept private, except that your name and years of attendance that you were enrolled in that school if it was a public school. That's all. If it was a private school then your information is kept private, because your parents would actually have paid for you to go to school there
