Seems to me that America is a whole bunch of contradictions: Holier than thou christians - half naked mtv stars. Rough rednecks - sophisticated citydwellers. Military men - new age people. Lots of junk food - slimming fanatics. And so on... I'm not saying it's bad, but why do you think it is like that?

We have many cultures and traditions. But the one thing that can be said of most of us is we are rebelous. If the trend is to be extreamly fat then half of us will take it to the extream the other way and become fitness fanatics.
Look at politics here the more conservative half of the population is the more extream the other half goes liberal.
We divide and argue about everything, coke/pepsi
Chevy/Ford, city/country.
We are diverse but united in being rebelous. It is in our history. We drink coffee because you all drink tea. We race horses the opposet direction as you do, just to rebel. We even drive on the different side of the road, just to rebel.
We are a country of contradictions and we would not have it any other way.

Unlike the other countires of the world, America is a true melting pot of societes,cultures,faiths,and races. When you mix all that together you are bound to get "a whole bunch of contradictions".

Weird is subjective and when you choose to catorigize people by what they do or who they are, you miss the bigger picture. We are free to be and do as we please in America, within the bounds of our laws.
This allows for a wide range of behaviors and activities. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this huge Democratic experiment!

we are a people killing out selves with all this crap. i think it all started with the hippies and i truly think their offspring have made out nation a disgrace. i mean be for them out fine war hero's would not be called baby killers, also be for them pedophiles would not be let out to roam free for just being too short to go to prison. we need some serious changes in our nation and i play they come soon.

hmm.. i say because americans are in their own little world... they dont really have a real veiw of what goes on in other countries and the consequences of what their leaders do... i agree though... america is weird and ive been here my whole life.
