thank you to the first person that answered,
in response, i agree with you that theirshould be a kit, who ever invents that will shurley be rich!
also i looked around
(i live in a townhouse) and i saw one of my neighbours and it looks like thay just have it sitting thir with no support, so i'm guessing that you would put the supports on the inside, does that sound right?

I'm assuming it's a window airconditioner. It is lots easier, to mount them on a ground floor situation.
It's hard to describe what you need to do, but you are right, it does need support. The last thing you need is for it to fall out of your window.
Basically, you need a support beam, or a triangular fixture, to mount on to the window sill. It needs to be well screwed in place. and it has to be at a slight angle.
You may need to find a handy man or professional to do the job. Or some friend who is good at DIY jobs around his own house.
Its a pity there aren't any kits for that kind of job. I am sure you arent the only one with the problem.
One idea, just struck me, walk around your area, and see if someone has installed one already. You maybe able to check it out, and see if it can work for you.Good luck.

It is very easy, obviously you need to have it in the direction where the cord is inside and the air blows through the inside vent.
Then you can just put it in your window. What you want to do is have the handle on top of the Unit inside the window so that it cannot fall outward, it can only fall inward. I have one that has no accordian stretchy thing on its sides, which is supposed to make it universally fit to any window. Does your have that? If it does than you have nothing to worry about, just extend them as far as you can so that it wedges into the window frame. If it doesnt then you want to use duct tape and tape it so no bugs or hot air come in. Hope ive been of help. Good Luck, If you have any others Q;s let me know. I have about 5 different kinds in my house.
