The best way to over come your fears is to start smaller and slowly work your way up. If you are afraid of heights then start by going on a smaller roller coaster. I personally use to be afraid of heights and the way that i got over them was i got one of my good friends to go on a small ride with me and then slowly worked my way up to bigger ones. It also really helps if you get a friend that you really rust to go on with you so that you are not all alone. Hope that this helps you

Yes - go for it!. I have a fear of heights but you are so tightly strapped in you feel safe. Roller-coasters go so fast you have no time to think about the height you are at after the first big dip and the ones that dangle you over the edge are scary at first but the buzz when you get to the bottom is incredible. I've also done a 12'000ft skydive, once l was out of the plane l didn't want to land - the most incredible experience and view l've seen in my life. The only rides l hate are the ones that you go straight up, then straight down - but that's because of the feeling, not the height. Start with the small roller-coasters then build up to the bigger ones. I went on a roller-coaster at the age of 7 and thought l was going to have a heart attack - went on again 10 yrs later and the experience is completely different - especially as you are bigger and fill the seat up more!. Have fun, they are only a minute or 2 at the most, and if you don't like it move to the next ride. Once you've been on one ride, the rest will be a breeze.

Yes, i have the same problem, i am always afraid of heights, and my firends always tease me about it. I can go above 15 feet with closing my eyes. Here, let me tell u a trick, the first thing about conquering roller coasters is the mindset, to tell you the truth, loading for the first plunge, the first 5 seconds are the worst, because you know that you cant do it, but u dont ahve much of a choice, since ur already in it. I know it is hard, but at that moment, think of what means to you the most, like family, think like if u wont ride it, u will lose a family memeber. It is a bit drastic, but you need to have the idea that you ahve to ride to overcome your fears. The rides are 90% mental, so once you get the right courage and mindset, u will do fine. I know, I had the same probleme b4, but i still went on the Goliath (in montreal, over 80 ft) because i kept on thinking, if i dont do it, i am gonna be a loser.

Oh, goodness, no!! I was never afraid of heights or fast rides until I was 21 and went with my shack job and some other friends to Astroworld (in Houston, TX) and they talked me into getting on what was then billed as one of the fastest roller coasters in the world. I don't remember anything about it, but they told me afterwords that 30 seconds into the ride I had my eyes shut as tightly as I could get them and I was screaming the entire time for the ride to stop because I wanted to get off. That was 26 years ago and I'm still afraid of heights - can't even get on a ladder anymore! and can't even watch video clips of roller coasters, Ferris wheels, anything that goes fast or is high up. How messed up is THAT!!!

I had a fear of heights too, but I just destroyed my fear by going on a really tall ride.(but it was more like a roller coaster) Me, my friend, and his mom went to Six Flags Magic Mountain in California, and that was when I rode the tallest coaster they had, Goliath. A 255ft first drop at speeds of 85mph for 3 min. that was the craziest ride I ever had. so now I don't have any fear of riding tall stuff anymore.

Fair rides scare me a little bit too but they are fun. They don't seem as safe as amusement park rides. I say try it. Go to an amusement park and just try one. You never know. You're first thought may be fear if that's what you want. But fake yourself out. It's all about the mind. The mind can play tricks on you. Just think happy thoughts.

yeah you should ride to get over your fears. The best place to go would be six flags in atlanta, georgia because they just unleashed a monster ride called the Goliath... and yiou have about seven different drops the first 179 feet., the rolller coaster is over 200 ft.I believe.. visit the website www.sixflags.com and read up on .. enjoy

I have one friend who can relate...we went to six flags and he didnt want to go on any big rides. That was way back in 3rd grade. Then maybe a few months ago we went to a small amusement park and went on the wooden rollercoaster. Then eventually he worked his way up to the big ones. Try somehting small like a wooden coaster..those usually arent THAT high plus dont go really fast or anything

Ride them. You probably wont regret it.
While riding them, just forget about and ignore your fears. And just laugh and enjoy the ride. And if after a couple of rides, you absolutely can't stand it then don't go on them anymore.
Remember most amusement rides are fun BECAUSE they are SCARY! People enjoy to be scared and to feel the adrenaline rush because of that. Rides wouldn't be half as fun if they didn't scare you.
My older brother used to be scared of rides, and wouldn't ride anything. Then we went to Euro Disney, and I encouraged him to ride the rollercoasters, and now he loves them and always rides all rides and rollercoasters everytime we go to a theme park.

Go ride "X" at Six Flags. That ride will either make you love roller coasters...or hate them. I don't go on upside down ones anymore just because a lot of them have been braking down and I just don't trust them enough like I use to. That's my opinion, but you do what you want. If you're not comfortable enough with going on them, then don't. If you are, then just do it!
