I usually avert my eyes and avoid the encounter, but I don't run away. Sometimes, if they seem clean of drugs and really trying, I will give them some money.

Depends on the situation. Sometimes there are homeless people that can automatically tell, will go and buy booze or drugs with the money. I say I don't have any. I don't see a point in making money, and giving it out to someone who could make money if they tried, especially if they're going to waste it. However, if I see someone who looks like they really need food, or their life was messed up because of a series of unfortunate events... then I'll give them some money.

I don't run for the hills if it's a homeless person asking for money, I don't stop and give them money either. Alot of people claiming to be homeless and begging for money are just lazy and can't be bothered getting real jobs, or they are just going to spend the money on booze or drugs.

If the person asking for money are those annoying charity collectors who like to annoy the hell out of you and harrass you on street corners, I run like the hills. I wont even look at them, because some of them are actually abusive, and really get on my nerves!

You have to be careful. I was in the DC greyhound bus terminal, and the bus drivers told us to hold onto our purses, luggage ect. It has been known to come up missing. And how do you even know these people are actually homeless? They could be doing an experiment to see how generous people are these days. I have given homeless people some change before. I never do it alone, always if someone else is with me, it seems to ease my fears.

It depends. I usually give them a few bucks, but if I see them again, the next day or even a week later, I avoid them.

I walk on by, especially when there are mechanisms in place that he doesn't have to live like that. Many openly and actively choose to be that way.
