My 16 year old shaves where the sun don't shine, why does the younger generation do this I hope this is not a taboo question if it offends anyone, in advance I am sorry.

OKAY yes she IS active and yes she is responsible I get the condoms and every time she leaves I always remind her. Her first goal in life is her education! and if she got pregnant that would not be a worry. the worry would be let's hope you did not catch anything, and she knows she can talk freely to me about anything and I do mean anything.

1st Good for you having an open relationship with your daughter.
your question... with the books out these days it is a popular thing. WELL personally a man that wants me nude there...um he is sick.. now keeping it well trimmed is another thing. Keeping it trim helps w/a lot of things.
1. during your cycle it helps prevent smell because "it" doesn't clot in the hair
2. humid areas helps with persperation and preventing yeast infections
3. if you just trim and not shave it helps prevent irritations

so yes it could be hygenic

We do it because
1. Bathing suits.
2. When you change in a locker room, hair might peek through, and for some, it is embarrassing.
3. It can get pretty hairy down there, and it gets annoying.
4. If she wears skirts... Same as #2.
5. Most guys find it more attractive.

Also, if she IS having sex, you should TRUST that she is being a responsible young woman, and if she DOES get pregnant, you should SUPPORT her throughout the whole thing, no matter what she chooses to do.

Also, if you don't want to confront her, just slip a few condoms into an envelope with "Love from Mom" on the front. Because, she is SIXTEEN years old.

I'm sorry but i never discussed pubic hair with my mother so its like great that your 16yr old can tell you this....i think, well anyways I'm 24 and i have always shaved there ever since my first porn movie which was at 15 yrs old and i seen shaved women.... it is much cleaner and its fashionable to our generation in these times oh yea its the thing to do if you wear bikinis or receive oral pleasures.

I am much older then your 16 year old and I do too.

I do it for several reasons. First of all I do feel cleaner. I just never really felt clean down there with hair even a small amount of hair.

I do not like the way hair down there feels or looks.

Now that I am of age I can say that both me and my partner enjoy sex more with it shaved.

With all of the answers you have received. I felt so discouraged when my daughter started doing that "thing-se." Of course, I cannot throw the first stone. There is so much fear of diseases that she can encounter; deadly diseases. Thank God my daughter is out of that but my son is still single and there is so much concern for him. All we can do is pray.
Valery and Victor have not been coming around. I sure hope they are ok. Last year three bully's were torturing them. We would shew them away but they would come back. Valery and Victor would hide but that did not help. My concern is that the mallards killed them. They could be busy caring for children or grandchildren.

I would only guess she is trying for a new feel of the way her underwear fits .........also ask your family doctor what he or she thinks of this...if you are in denial you might want to get some birth control pills just for the special time she says she's thinking about trying something newer....and they do regulate the periods...good luck...

In my case, I do it because it is just more comfortable, and nothing shows in a bathing suit. However, I am older (34), so i'm not sure it's a generational thing

Maybe she is doing so because of bathing suit season. Or..her friends are doing it too.

But..I would want to ask her if she is sexually active, and is doing it to be more attractive. I know that this might be uncomfortable..but it seems to me this might be one of the reasons to shave one's nether-regions.
