yes animals do mate with their relatives.. in the wild they would try to chase off males who are their offsping when they are young.. in hopes they dont encounter them again.. however if they do.. they generally dont realize this was their brother, son, dad.. and will mate with them
yes you can and do get inbreeding deformities, but are also likely to have the kittens turn out normal looking unless this happens too much in generations

Yep it's completely normal with animals as they don't have rules/guidelines like humans do. It's why if you want to be a breeder and keep your breeds true you control who's bred with whom.
I have read that you can breed a Male Goat with his daughter if your going for a meat goat but with his granddaughter if your going for lineage. Same with a grandfather goat. You can breed him back to his granddaughter but shouldn't really breed him to his daughter. Sounds kinda weird I know but it all depends on what way you want to go, meat or lineage for show quality in an animal. I wouldn't ever recommend breeding a brother to a sister as that is just to close and could cause deformations in the babies. Same with breeding a mother to a son, it's just not something you do. The only reason it's OK to breed a father and daughter is the line isn't as close as a mother/son line. Like I said it sounds NUTS but for breeders looking for specific things it's what they do in order to get a specific trait, color, persona what have you. The only time inbreeding can cause real problems in animal breeding is as I said when brothers and sisters breed or a mother and son breed. It's that pure blood link connection there and over time can cause deformities etc.

Yes, animals do mate within families. Dog breeders use this to help bring out good qualities. You can mate father to daughter without a probem, but son to mother and brother to sister can cause problems. I don't know why.

Yes! I raise rabbits, and it isn't uncommon to breed mother to son, or father to daughter. It helps bring out postitive characteristics, in moderation. Also, if you leave a mom in with her babies too long any sons can get the mother or their sister pregnant. It is gross by human standards, but animals don't really remember who their offspring are, in most cases.

It happens all the time, it's called inbreeding. All the animals care about is their sex drive. Sometimes the offspring have defects, it depends on the genetics of the parents.

Yes an animal will commit incest and yes it does have mental and physical side effects, deformities like cleft pallets and such. But some animals are "line bred" (specifically bred to close relatives) to get wanted traits, such as color markings and size.

That is a hard question... I think animals would have enough intelligence to know that mating with their offspring isn't right.

Cats have no concept of familial relations, so related cats will breed readily. If genetic diseases are present in the bloodline, then you can have some affected kittens.
If you'd do the responsible thing and get your pets spayed and neutered, you won't have to worry about this.
