I am in favor of it. I am also in favor of removing the supreme court for their decision that the chemicals used in most states constitute cruel and unusual punishment. Matter of fact I would like to see us remove all judges and lets just do away with juries while we are at it. The system could work something like this. Have the prosecutor enter his evidence into a computer, then have the defense do the same. Give the computer 30seconds to analyze all the data and print out a verdict. If innocent let the man go, if guilty just have the computer whip out a colt 45 and Bam!! justice served. No setting on death row eating from the public trough, no unlimited appeals with state appointed attorneys eating at the public trough, no having to provide medical care with the doctors and hospitals eating at the public trough, No second offenders, No overcrowding in our jails, reduce the country budget by eleminating the need for new jails. Switft justice with no arguments. See, I have addressed the same items that all politicians adress, Health care, Education, and reducing the budget. Will have to work on the Iraq war just a little but I am sure I can fit it in here somewhere. Maybe that is the platform I will run on when I oppose Hillary for the job of Bull Moose. However, there is just one thing. I want to be the computer programmer because there are a few bastards that I want to get even with.

Im in favor of the death penalty. It may seem strange but I have pleny of reasons. For one, the death penatly is a much more cost effetive punishment, as opposed to free health care, food, and shelter of prision, which costs alot. Also, the "innocents" if found guilty went through alot, since only the state supreme court can try a death penalty case. Therefore, he would have had to have gone through alot of trials just to prove him guilty. The numbers don't lie my friend.

I'm against it in virtually all instances. First, all of the legal processes involved in execution are actually much more expensive than keeping convicts in prison for life. Second, in the words of Mahatma Gandhi, "an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." What's the logic behind an eye for an eye? While we would like to think it is justice, who are we to decide if someone deserves to die? A death for a death is logically arbitrary and is based on our animalistic instinct to survive, not our humanistic virtue to be equal. Third, we really don't know for certain (even though people can have faith) what's on the other side of death--could be nothing; could be torture if one believes in hell. If hell is as bad as religious texts describe it, are we really justified in dealing out an equivalent of ten thousand deaths in exchange for the murder? Fourth, death is irreversible. There have been plenty of instances in which forensics showed years later that a person was innocent--but they were far too late. Fifth, only an infinitesimal number of convicts in prison for life break out, and many of those are caught, so for all intensive purposes, criminals are just as safe in high-security jails as dead. Sixth, no matter what the offender did, can we really call ourselves moral beings if we find pleasure in their deaths? Again, I think this is more instinctual than intellectual.

OPPOSE my best friend was convicted of double homicide and was facing the death penalty. That's like saying what they did was wrong but its OK for them to do it. Doesn't make any sense. My best friend was the most kindest and loving person one could meet. Now shes doing 62 to life because if you dont have money your guilty. Our system is so f*cked off its unreal. They don't care about what really happened they just want to look good putting "the bad guy" away.

In favor of the death penalty, but the system needs revising. The appeal system allows criminals to draw out the process for decades - it needs to be stream-lined. I feel that if executions are carried-out in a short time after conviction, it will have a deterrent effect on crime!

Favor, especially for murders who commits crime repeatedly, I would also not shed my tear if a gang leader or a drug dealer are sent to the chair, in fact, I think they deserve death penalty more than average murders, they are the viruses contaminating the whole society, for them, death is too light a penalty.

Am in favor of the death penalty but it has to be used only if the individual is convicted of a heinous crime and shows no remorse whatsoever.

not in favor. my thoughts are of a christian foundation. i believe that the Lord gave us life and therefore he is the only one that should be allowed to take it away. many Christians don't believe what i do, they believe in the Old Testament verse, "an eye for an eye." but if they have the chance to be saved and truly repent for what they did then how are we to take that away. also, many of the people that say they believe in the death penalty also oppose abortion, which just says that it is okay to kill one but not the other - that is such a contradiction in itself. the death penalty is vengeful is not for us to take someones life into are own hands. some say that they would rather they be put to death than to pay for them to live their live in jail, but the cost for one death row inmate is nearly double what it cost to house a regular inmate. remember we don't have just the Old Testament, but also the New Testament, which says we should turn the other cheek. but of course this is just my thoughts and ideas.
