At this time last year, the only serious exposure I'd had to hockey was the movie "Miracle." I'm now a season ticket holder for the Washington Capitals. I got bit by the hockey bug, and bit hard.

Hockey is better than FOOTBALL because there's no dead time: when that clock is counting, the puck is in play, and you're not waiting for the offense to break the huddle after a run play. It's a contact sport that makes football look slow and plodding by comparison.

Hockey is better than BASEBALL because it's a LOT faster. That should be self-evident.

Hockey is better than BASKETBALL because it's a contact sport. In the NBA nowadays, you breathe on certain players and you get whistled. There's also a lot more class in hockey: I haven't seen any reports of loutish fans or thuggish players in the news as of late, but everyone remembers Ron Artest, yes?

Anyone else want to help me out here?

Typical sentiment of someone ignorant of the game...preferring to "bash" it than try to understand it. While a great majority of Canadians [and a LOT of Americans too!] watch hockey, I'm going to ENCOURAGE you and anyone else who doesn't understand the game to LEARN about it, watch it and THEN pass judgement. If you understand nothing or very little about the game you won't enjoy it...same as if you didn't understand anything about NFL football or MLB, you'd carry the opinion of that being boring too. Are there bad hockey games? Yes! Are there great hockey games? Yes! Too bad you didn't take the time to appreciate just how beautiful the game can truly be. I feel sorry for you.

I agree with Poutine how can you say such a thing hockey is the best sport ever I'm a huge fan of the NHL, DEL, Extraliga, and RHL hockey has a lot of action and is very exciting if it's so boring why not just tell the person who is making you watch it hey I don't want to watch this so I'm going to go to the corner to stare at the wall.

Hockey is boring to American's because it goes straight over their heads.

They like reaaaal slow sports that are simple and easy to follow. i.e. Baseball, NASCAR and basketball.

How can you call 6'4" 240 men, skating on 1/8" is steel, hitting each other at 40km/h boring.

Have you ever seen a hockey fight? AMAZING! In baseball a pitcher throws a ball at a batter and then runs away like a puss. In hockey you have to be accoutable for your actions. Or Else George Laraque will punch your teeth in.

Last I heard no one can make you do what you don't want to, if you find it bored get up and go do something else. Everyone has their limits to how they want to get engaged in an activity. If you don't have a zest for life you will find anything boring, if you have a zest for life you know how to adapt and keep your life exciting. Hockey is a very fast paced game with many rules but they are there for a reason. To keep the game in check otherwise things could get seriously out of hand.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

THERE IS NO MORE EXCITING SPORT TO WATCH!!

Really I can not think of another sport that is even as close to as exciting as hockey.
Baseball? lol
Soccer? I like playing it but watching is not so great.
Basketball? It is only exciting for the last minute, the rest is running up and down the court - no real action.
Race cars? cars driving is circles, Yawn.
If you don't like watching sports then I could see how somebody would think it is boring but there is no more exciting sport to watch the hockey!

So...waiting five minutes for someone to throw a ball for someone to hit isn't boring? Watching cars driving around a track 400 times is not boring? Hell, I can drive around my block 400 times and I think I'd have more fun than watching baseball or NASCAR.

Yes they could use a round ball, put it on a grass field and call it Soccer. Personally I think baseball is pretty boring as well.
