Everyone wants to be thin - you have the edge on us.
BTW - it isn't healthy to gain or lose excess weight in a short time. You'll mess up your metabolism and never be satisfied with self.

well the obvious answer would be consume more calories than your burning every day. However you will gain fat and fat is less dense than muscle tissue is.
I recently got my tonsils out this week, and in just a week i lost fifteen pounds. however, i looked in the mirror and i still had some love handles and a bit of belly fat. its because my muscles had atrophed and i was only drinking sugary things- gatorade, jello, and freezy-pops.
Your body uses protein to build muscle fibers. If you have ever seen a nutrition facts label on anything, you might have noticed a little chart that says
"calories per gram"
"fat=9 carbohydrates=4 protein=4"
That means for every gram of fat, carbs, and proteins, there are 9, 4, and 4 calories each. That is why many nutritionists say that anything with more than 20% (?) calories obtained from fat, are unhealthy. If you plenty of high calorie-from-protein foods, your body burns those calories to build muscle. If you want to gain weight faster, with better and healthier results, then you want to be getting a lot of your calories from protien and fewer from fats and carbohydrates. A good diet i would reccomend is the south beach diet. Plenty of proteins, but you watch your fats and sugars.
Working out is essential to weight gain and loss too. If you want to build muscle, go with heavier weight, but if you want to tone, go with more repetitions. Target every muscle in your body, and try and keep your work outs from becoming monotonous.
Good luck with that, i gotta gain some of my muscle back as well this summer.

get pregnant.. lol j/k it gained me 45 pounds.. lol! but seriously, I know what you are talking about, bcuz I used to be too thin also. I started drinking a lot of whole milk and eating lots of carbs. If you actually follow the food pyramid though, you get soo full cuz It's a lot of food, and I gained weight off that too..
