I worked for an orthopedic specialist and learned that bone growth doesn't hurt. What may be hurting is the nerves, tissues and muscles surrounding the break that are also healing.

Yes I was still in pain after my case was removed in 7 weeks. I'm going into my six month after breaking my left fibula and I'm still having pain off and on. You're probably in physcial therapy by now and thats some hard work alone trying to get that leg and foot going again. Whatever you do, keep up with the physical therapy and if you continue to have pain tell your doctor. My doctor made an advance appointment for me by the end of my 6th week of therapy and suggested I take 6 more weeks of it. Sorry to tell you, that I didn't do it. Wish I had. So do what the PT and Doc tell you and hopefully you will have a more pleasant and speedy recoverey. And by the way, when you laying up doing nothing but watching tv, do your ABC's with you foot. It really helps.

I can tell you from personal experience that bone pain is REAL..I've had a few breaks and even total replacements. It might not be from growth, but it continues to hurt for a long time. It feels almost like a toothache in your bone and gets worse when the weather changes, or you are overactive. Just try to deal with it the best you can taking over the counter meds for pain and inflammation. If that doesn't do it for you, tell your doctor. He may consider injecting the site with cortisone.

I broke both wrists, two years apart, when I was a child. The right arm was a severe break and throbbed from time to time. The only way you will be able to tell if your leg is ok , is when they remove the cast. If your leg still hurts chances are it hasn't completely healed, then you should get an X-Ray. My arm wasn't completely healed and took another two weeks.

I broke my leg as a kid, and I don't remember any pain after the initial impact pain went away. I was in a walking cast from day one..managed to trash my mom's carpet dragging the cast behind me...but no pain. You might want to go visit your doctor to make sure everything is ok.

Yes it is not at all unusual to feel pain while a bone knits. Indeed, it is not unusual for years thereafter for it to be a little tender and sometimes itch a bit around where a break was.
