i know this sounds terribly racist, but i want to know...

I was watching the NBA finals the other day, and i noticed many of the african americans had extensive tatoo work on their arms. However, most of it was very dark and hard to see.

I do not mean this in any way to be a racist comment, i just noticed that a lot of blacks have tatoos and you just can't see them.

I don't just mean NBA stars, but any black person who gets one. There are plenty of blacks in my city/state/this country who have plenty of tattoo work.

I know tattooing is quite expensive, i am very interested in body art myself. Sometimes a session can be upwards of $150 an hour and a $50 minimum fee, for custom, professional work.

What i meant was why do blacks get such tattoos when you can't even see them, on their skin type? I see so many people on public transportation of all ethnicities and a good part of every demographic have tattoos, but i just don't understand why black people get them when they are so dark that nobody can see them without getting scrutinizingly close and inspecting every last detail?

Yes, it does sound racist, but thinking for pointing out that you're not trying to sound racist. I think that so many people in the NBA have tattoos is because they have so much money and they let all their success go to their heads. But it's not just black people in the NBA who get the tattoos. It just might seem like only the black get tattoos because there's more black people in the NBA than there is white. But it's just the same as why people who are famous get expensive cars and just throw their money around on hotels and personal assistants. It's because they have money. It could also be because they are representing where they came from and who they are.

your question should be why do a lot of the black players in the NBA have tattoos. just cuz the black players have tattoos doesnt mean a lot of black people in general have tattoos.
Now, to answer your question, maybe its a trend.

I know you don't mean to be racist but that is a very stupid question . "black people"have been getting tattoos for thousands of years in Africa my sister has a tattoo and you can see hers perfectly fine..and you should report those racist bastards.

Blacks,White,Hispanic,Jap,.
It doesn't matter and i agree w/you,
on some you can't see them . But anyway on another issue,
w/tattoos.
Most people today look like walking tatoo billboards.
or some sort of walking graffiti-wall.
I enjoy see tattoos on women's lower backs but that's it.

black people are just the same as white people or any other race. people just get tatoos because they like them and its a way to express themselves with art. i see people of many races with tatoos. and by the way, i have seen many black people with tatoos that are in black ink, and i can see them just fine.

It's true, personally i don't like tattoos but on black people they look worse because the ink turns a different color because they're dark
But if they like it who am I to say....

Why do white people get tatts? Geez. lol. Maybe the question should have been: "Why get a body decoration that anyone can hardly see?"
