Why is it that when an ordinary citizen hears voices telling him to kill people, we lock him up for the safety of both himself and the community; yet when Bush hears voices telling him to kill, fundamentalists rejoice and pretend he was chosen by God to be president?

EXCELLENT QUESTION!! But here is the ONLY PLACE where I will EVER stick up for God, because it's not his fault!! I would say that it's probably because not enough people are affected by his suicidal policies on Iraq, and the economy, and health care, and adequate schooling, and crime, and illegal wiretapping, and draining the working class and poor to feed the wealthy, and on and on, ad infinitum!! Our average voter's minds have turned to mush, and the rest of us are too busy with choosing an American Idol to worry about any of the aforementioned!! But the hammer will fall, and people will wake up to his atrocities--but by then it will be too late!! We have no Republicans or Conservatives with a conscience in this country any more, and they're the ones in charge! But their own private hell awaits them in November!! If Liberals don't control at least one of the houses of government by December of this year, I am giving up COMPLETELY on our common sense, and on any "liberties" that we MAY HAVE HAD in the past! By that time, they will have been completely taken away!! And we will have no one to blame but our pathetically ignorant populous, and our apathy!!!

The reason he gets to run free and other wack jobs don't? His daddy was wealthy and president, he's wealthy and president... Most people who are truely nuts tend to not be quite so successful.

When in a room with blind people, the one eyed man is king. No one really believes he's ordained by anything to be a leader. He was just the best choice out of the group at the time. He has the Sadim touch, everything he touches these days turns to crap. I think that his re-election is appropriate. The law in my house is you make the mess, you clean it up... He shouldn't hand this off to someone else. We went into Iraq, tweaked around with everything, and displaced a ruthless man without good planning and the exit strategy that Colin Powell suggested we needed. The majority elected him (again, because he was the best thing going at the time), so we have to deal with the mess. At least he doesn't have too much longer before he hits lame duck status. Hopefully our candiate choices are better next election.

It's not really in the name of God...it's really in the name of Big Oil, and the military industrial complex. And I'm sure God never wanted Bush to be President. Whatever higher power there is is probably an Independent...

That was a most unusual article. Perhaps he was trying to relate to his Amish brethren? Hmmm...If he truly thinks he is doing what God tells him to do, we are in for a long 2 more years.
