And this was a few days ago. I tried clearing it, gargling, etc, etc, and nothing... it still feels like something in the back of the throat. Any suggestions on how to clear it? Is this something a doc should check, and if so, what type of doctor? Thanks.

You may have something stuck in there, like in those " cracks" in the back of your throat.
Get a good flashlight and look you may have to make your self gag so your throat opens more to get a good look.
Then use your finger to feel around.

I had it happen once with a popcorn kernel, drove me nuts.
If it keeps bugging I guess you could go in. Also if it was a store, restraunt bought sandwich are you sure it wasnt a piece of toothpick or something from a cutting board.?

Drink a glass of water and see if that helps. You can also try eating some yogurt or a banana. If it's really bothering you, and especially if you start having difficulties swallowing or breathing, go to the emergency room. I'm not sure what they will do for you but it will get done fast!

I called a nurse helpline for something similar once and that's what they told me to do.

If you irritated you their or scratched it during the course of trying to dislodge it you may feel that it is still present...if you are having difficulty swallowing or talking or breathing go to a doctor for an exam.

If it were stuck in your throat you would be having alot of salivating, however, try to swallow the biggest piece of banana you can.Are you sure you didn't scratch your throat. An EENT ears, nose and throat would be who you need to see and an er doc might be able to check it out before he called them.

I think that you just probably scratched your esophagus when swallowing. When we swallow something, we have muscles in our throat (esophagus) that work it down for us. The sandwich isn't there....the muscles have worked it down. But that uncomfy feeling may last a while, until it heals itself.

It doesn't matter what type... just go to your local medical care center.
