what you have is called an "above the tub" unit as we call them. what you more than likly have is a cloged up drain pan. turn off unit and open the cover below the unit. you will see the blower motor on the side of the coil box , wich is the rectuangular metal box thats about 16x30 inches. The drain pan is that bottom plate u see, with the either PVC or maby a copper line screwed onto a male 3/4 inch fitting. feel into the pan above that fitting, if you feel water standing up to lip its a cloged drain line. but as for buckets, their placed over tubs/showers so that when they do clog dumps into drain. but unless you have the tools to get into the line and blow out the clog, call a repair company, sould cost you maby $70-90 depending and I could do it in 30-45 min, in and out.

If it is near your shower it is taking the moisture from that and thats where the water in the bucket is coming from. AC units take the moisture out of the air and the cooling of the moist air will make water. Just like a really cold glass of water, with the cold moisture on the outside. Move it to another room.

The problem is that the a/c is in your bathroom. The a/c unit is removing the humidity from your shower. and thats why your getting large amounts of water from your unit. no other answer other then wait a hour or so, to let the humidity from the room lower abit before using the a/c unit. If you can open a window to let out the high levels of water vapor.

Air conditioners produce water in humid air (the outside part) as warm, moist air hits the cold coils. You have to make a drain pan or put the ac someplace else.

sounds like you've just got alot of water in the air for it to filter out. Live in a really humid & hot climate like Miami or Houston?

Your drain line is clogged. you can have it blown out where it is connected to the drain pan with compressed air or co2. If this is an apartment, put in a maintenance request. I get one or two of these a week.

Clean the condensation drain out. Then the water will drain outside.
