Actually, there are more then 3 parties. Most know the Independents, but there's also the Green Party, so on and so on. None big enough to elect a president. The most we can do whether Dem or Rep is to get the right person who represents where we want this country to go. I vote Dem, but would like to see more out of the party - there is so much untapped potential. Special interest really seem to get in the way --gee let's think -- like the big oil companies. Who put them in charge, anyway?

Great idea. Unfortunately the American public is mainly made up of sheep who can no longer, or never could, think for themselves. They require someone to tell them what is best and how to think.
Both Dems and Reps are guilty of too much government and too little individual control. For there to be any real change, the citizens of this country will have to become engaged in politics and take back the government for the people and by the people.
Something that would be worth a try, would be to get a well known individual, someone with name recognition, to run as a Libertarian. The platform should have two planks. 1) Secure the border 2) Pass HR 25, The Fair Tax. Our country would be a much better place.

I read in a newspaper about a month ago about how many people nowadays don't agree totally with dems or the gop. I forget what they called them, but this group of people was described as fiscally conservative but liberal in other ways and according to this article if there was a political party that catered to that group it could make a very big difference in elections. I think that if a new party emerged that didn't have all this corruption around it, people would be very interested. Also, it might have a new perspective on the major issues, such as Iraq, fuel prices, and immigration. It's quite possible that America's bi-partisan days are coming to a close.

Republicans have a can do frame of mind. Dems have a gimme frame of mind. It wasn't Michael Brown or George Bush's fault that Katrina sufferers suffered. It became Nagin and the Governor of Louisiana who did not comprehend which end became up that presented on the themes. FEMA works with close by authorities to handle failures. they're instructions would have come from the Governor and Nagin. yet no longer some thing got here and buses sat nonetheless. It became until eventually FEMA took over that issues began to ensue.

Even if a 3rd party candidate never becomes president, that does not mean that someone has "wasted a vote" by voting for them. A strong 3rd party system would send a loud and clear message to both parties that Americans were fed up and looking elsewhere for leadership. Sadly though, absolute power corrupts absolutely and it would be only a matter of time until a 3rd party candidate became the same corrupt, butt kissing lackey we are forced to deal with now.

Those who vote for the third party waste their vote. Their candidate will probably never be president. Sure democrats and republicans aren't perfect, but ppl gotta choose which one is better, because only if people vote for dems or reps their candidate has a chance to get elected.

Um thats not very liekly to happen. The US is locked into a two party system and every time a third party tries to come up they are eventually washed out. People are just too afraid of something new so they will continue to vote either repub or dem.

YES. I think we should be electing third, fourth and fifth parties in all branches of government, with term limits!!!! Get those comfy, alcoholic, bribe taking fat cats outta there.
---and for those who want to know. The reason they can't get elected is because the Dem and Rep. sides set up barriers, access to the public, money, votes; the whole infrastructure is rigged so that it is almost impossible to get third party representation for the people. Nice hah.

NO, No, no!!!! Third parties only keep one or another or both in power. What you do is implement your personal right to term limits. When you go to vote (even if you feel you know nothing about politics) it isn't much trouble to find out who are your incumbents (those running for reelection) so that on election day you can go to the polls and vote AGAINST them. They cannot profit from their bribe-taking and other corruptions if you won't allow them to return to the smog bowl of Washington, D.C.
And if you don't bother to vote at all, not only are you not doing your part and have no right to complain, you are also responsible for us getting the government we deserve because we voted for it--or did not bother to get off our lazy butts to vote against it!
