I'm sorry I haven't been through both but I know many many women who have. I have only had a cesarean but went through all the stages of labor and pushing, baby just got stuck.
The recovery from a cesarean was unbelievably hard. The great thing about most vaginal births, is after the birth, you don't have to go through any more pain unless you have breastfeeding problems (which you are also less likely to have, when you have an unmedicated birth because you and baby are both more alert). Once the birth is over, you can just enjoy your baby. My incision still bothers me, 10 months later, and I have the added bonus (sarcastic) of getting hassles about trying to have a vaginal birth if I ever have more children in the future.
Since my cesarean it has become my obsession to have a vaginal birth - I really feel like I missed a part of being a mother, I missed the 'initiation' into motherhood. I missed that first hour and a half of my baby's life. I didn't witness her coming into the world. This is really hard for me to accept.

I've had my baby naturally. I felt much better in the end and I wasn't so drugged up. Its not good to have a C-section if you don't have to. Most of the time, when someone has a C-section its because it was necessary. I prefer a natural birth vaginally because I can be myself right after the baby is born. I was so happy for it to be over, I was sitting up eating a meal from Sonic's! Most people would say that they were on epidural; I think its okay, but I would not be on it the next time I get pregnant because if any mistakes were to occur, then you would be paralyzed permanently! So, if I were you, I would have a natural birth despite what anyone says. You would feel so much better about yourself.

Vaginal, the pain is temporary, once you've had the baby your pain is gone shortly
With c-section, your body stays numb for what feels like forever and the stiches, clips, whatever, hurts, everytime you laugh, sneeze, cough, it feels like you have split your stomach open. You cab hardley move for a week. You can not go back to work for 6-8 weeks because it is major surgery plus you have to be light on anything you do. It also hurts like hell to have a bowel movement.
Also, c-sections make it hard to get any muscle tone in your tummy afterward, I have had trouble with my stomach area since.
Some times you don't have the option of a choice, but if you do go for vaginal definately.

I would take vaginal delivery any day. Why undergo surgery if it is not really necessary. Both are painful and that is why I only had one baby and a million stitches.
