It really depends on why your having this problem sleeping. If it is a once in a while thing then it not so bad. Age can affect your sleep as well as medicene, caffeine, etc. But if you're just having trouble in general then, usually I will watch TV, or just lay there thinking about the day, and thinking about tomorrow, anything positive is good to help relax. I don't like to do much before my bedtime because if I'm really pumped up then I know it will take me longer. Keep activies light later in the evening, and no chocolate because of the caffeine. Good luck to you.

Well try doing something relaxing for a while before going to lie down. A nice warm bath always helps to slow the body down to that level with a nice warm cup of milk can't hurt either. There's also something you can get at some health food stores called Rescue Remedy, or Bach Flower Formula; its soothing and comforting. I only recommend this if you are really uptight and the other options are not working. This also works for nervousness and nervous stomach. This will help to calm you down. I would not recommend this if you are not an adult since it is very important to follow the directions on the package as to how much to take per dose. Hope this can be of some help.

Yep not easy is it! I suppose it depends if it is constantly happening with you or not? If so you need to see your GP I think. If it's just occasionally then yeah hot milk is a good idea. Get up, do some reading. Try breathing exercises to clear your mind if you are 'thinking to much in bed'. Try going for an early evening walk for half an hour after tea or a swim or something like that to make you more tired?

Hey
Well hot milk helps, and try to not drink (tea,coffee..etc) before sleeping...cuz that will keep u up, and I wouldn't recommend bath...it doesn't work for me at least...when I take a bath..I become so active & awake.
Anway..my advice is music, get ur fav Cd or mp3, put on headphones...close ur eyes..and listen...choose music by following ur mood...but of course slow music would help u more to fall asleep.
Reading is good too, but doesn't work always.
Music works always for me!

Lay in bed and have a lamp on or flashly lights and stare at something in your room and while doing that say the ABC's and eventually your eyes will become tired and so will your mind and you will fall asleep.

I say, time to crack open the bible, I hardly ever get through Genesis. I swear, it works....try it. I could have just woken up from a 12 hour sleep, start reading the bible and I'm so out again.
I love God, and HIS word, don't get me wrong, but something about it makes me fall asleep everytime.

O i hate that. Well to tell you the best method is to have some strong liqour. Otherwise it is best to eat alot of food and feel full. And seriously if you are married or in a relationship you can have sex or go solo.... seriously. Or have a combo of them all!!

make a cup of chamomile (sp?) tea and drink it very, very slowly. it'll calm the nerves and make it easier to fall asleep. just make sure 1) you're in bed or somewhere where it's easy to get to a bed before you fall asleep and 2) make sure the tea's decaffinated ;) good night...
